Jeep Beach Invasion Starts Today As Daytona Revs Up for Ultimate Off-Road Bash

Daytona Beach gears up for its Annual Jeep Beach event which starts today. The event is expected to attract thousands of Jeep enthusiasts from worldwide. This year, the event includes the Jeep Beach Radio Music Fest at Daytona International Speedway, featuring country artists Lee Brice, Craig Morgan, and Maggie Rose. The week's festivities range from volunteer appreciation to music and food events, a 5K run, and multiple community clean-ups, all culminating in the 21st Annual Main Event Show with live music and an obstacle course. The event highlights community and environmental commitment alongside Jeep culture.

Dawn Raid Nets Three at Daytona Gambling Den; Cash, Guns Seized

Daytona Beach police arrested three people at a gambling house on Mason Avenue during a Thursday morning raid. The operation uncovered 40 illegal gambling machines, $20,000 in cash, firearms, and other gambling-related items. Two suspects were caught on the premises while a third, Mukesh Parmar, was arrested upon arrival. All face charges related to operating the gambling house, with potential additional charges pending. Police are seeking further information from the public.

DAR Awards Service and Scholarships at Gala Gathering

The Capt. James Ormond Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated significant member contributions and milestones at their recent meeting. Alice Zimbler received a 10-year service certificate, while Karen Knowles and Denise Sikes were honored for their extensive volunteer efforts, totaling over 1,000 hours in 2023. Scholarships were awarded to Felicia Wiggins and Melissa Pandy of the Daytona College Fresh Start Program, which aids students in transitioning to degree programs. Additionally, new member Deb Abel was welcomed, introduced by the seasoned DAR member Peggy Wilburn.
