Volusia County Sea Turtles Kick Off Nesting Season Early With Nest Found In Ormond

Volusia County's sea turtle nesting season has kicked off early with the first nest discovered in Ormond Beach on April 13, ahead of the official start date of May 1. The county, which set a record with 1,516 nests last year, is anticipating a busy season. Local conservationists, led by Jaymie Reneker, are promoting darkness on beaches to protect hatchlings, who face harsh survival odds. Residents and visitors are encouraged to adhere to sea turtle-safe practices during the nesting period, which lasts until October 31.

This year's fest drew 225,000 visitors and 25,000 Jeeps from across the globe, representing all 50 states and 34 countries.

Update: Sudden Shutdown at Fysh Bar & Grill as Bankruptcy Bites

The Fysh Bar & Grill in Port Orange closed suddenly on Sunday, blindsiding its 45 employees with last-minute notice. The owner, Sidarth Sethi, revealed the restaurant had accrued over $6 million in debts and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. This decision follows a failed attempt at reorganization under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which briefly aimed to alleviate financial pressures. Despite early success, the restaurant's earnings plummeted, leading to its inevitable demise. The property's landlord is in discussions with a New York company interested in the location, which may provide some hope for the displaced staff.

Kate Beckinsale's Gym Buddy, A St. Bernard,, Turns Workout to Playtime

Actress Kate Beckinsale might switch from cats to canines after bonding with a St. Bernard during a gym workout. Known for smaller pets, her encounter with the large, playful dog showcased their joint exercise routine on social media. St. Bernards are famous for their strength and endurance, though they require significant care, including handling their health issues and substantial food intake. Beckinsale's humorous take on the workout hints at the joys and challenges of owning such a large breed.
