✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“Flooding is already becoming a problem in the area. Canals that never used to have high water levels are always full to capacity. Additionally, there is water ponding on roads that never used to have standing water. Wildlife is suffering and foraging in neighborhoods for food and refuge. What was once a beautiful area has become an eyesore. Everyone talks about climate change and yet concrete and tall buildings is all you see. Increasing temperatures are the result of this deforestation. It’s time to stop!”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“How many weeks did it take for the flood waters that covered part of Clyde Morris Blvd. after Milton came through to recede? I don't remember flooding ever being that bad, even when we had storms that dropped even more rain on us. The flooded area this time was next to a recently clear-cut area, presumably for even more apartment complexes. Builders want to make money, true, but at what cost to the environment and to the existing residents? By destroying more wetlands, the flooding will only get worse. It is time to stop the development on lands that should be left to nature!”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“Enough!!”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“The building that has gone on here over the past several years is totally out of control. To see all the greenery being destroyed, is extremely disheartening! It needs to end before we lose all the beauty of this area for good!”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“I wonder how the many animals affected are being treated, where have the deer, raccoons, opossums gone? Did we find the tortoise burrows where they moved in accordance with the law? Was there ever a plan to provide a natural corridor/exit route so that these critters could escape the bulldozers and cars and find safety west of I-95, or did we just kill them and drive them into traffic?”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“Enough is enough. Stop draining the wetlands. No more apartments, storage buildings, or car washes.”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“Been living in Ormond Beach for 25 years & seeing it get shredded by constant development is so sad. The small-town feel is disappearing.”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“This has been an issue residents have been vocal about since it began with no regard or consideration for the concern. Not only that, we do not even have the infrastructure in place for this, which is another careless inconsideration. Our hospital’s emergency rooms can’t keep up, the streets are overwhelmed with traffic, and these eyesore condo/apartments replace our natural lands. Not to mention the displacement of all the wildlife. The greed is real. It’s unfathomable this has taken place with zero regard for our ecosystem and community.”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“We should have paused to re-evaluate a long time ago.”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“I am worried about the flooding, and what a shame they are removing all those beautiful trees, not to mention displacing wildlife. They aren't even filling the apartments they already built, and now they're building more! Greed and corruption...how much is enough?”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“We moved here to enjoy the NATURAL beauty of the area. We are not beachgoers.”🚫 No - building and development is needed for the local economy
“A growth moratorium is a great way to turn Volusia County into those Midwestern states that are slowly dying and going broke. Great plan lol.”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“It's time for the county council to think about the environment and the people they were elected to serve and stop lining their pockets and garnering favors from big developers!”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“It is ridiculous how much of our wetlands and woods are being taken away. We have more and more flooding going on because the water has nowhere to go.”🚫 No - building and development is needed for the local economy
“There is a good chance that the 90% who are voting yes, live in what was once wetlands, what was once critical habitats. It's easy to say, not in my back yard... But you are in what was once someone's backyard... I am all for smart, well planned development, but a moratorium does not accomplish that. It puts an undue market restriction and hurts not only developers, but land owners who's land is not as valuable as it could be, and puts more pressure on housing inventory and creates affordability issues for those looking to get into the market. But who cares about those who are not already in the market, we have our homes, right?”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“Why do people insist on making this area, 'the next Ft. Lauderdale,'? Oh yeh, money! Screw the environment and locals that have been here their entire life, just give us the money and then we will move on to the next area and destroy it.”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“I have lived here for 10 years moving from Seminole Cty where I lived for 30+ years prior. I moved here for less traffic, more green space, the wonderful canopy of The Loop, and the sound of the ocean. A paradise for anyone! Truly there is nothing like this. I can no longer hear the ocean as it is drowned out by construction noise and vehicles. The Scenic Loop is being destroyed acre by acre. Traffic on A1A and Granada, I-95 is precarious. Over the past 2.5 years I was shocked to see 6” of water flooding the end of our road. There is no place for it to drain to anymore. Stop the destruction! We are teetering on a precipice of ruin. Be the county that says NO to developers! Make a stand for your residents and let’s take care of what we have now.”✔ Yes - the building and destruction of woods & wetlands is out of hand. We need a better master plan.
“The building in this area is outrageous with no regard for the animals who inhabit it or the infrastructure that can't handle it. Builders/Developers are very greedy and don't care what they are doing to our lands. Enough is enough.”
