It's almost time for one of Volusia County's largest community service events. The 41st Annual International Coastal Cleanup returns from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, and volunteers are encouraged to help remove litter from local beaches and waterways. Registration opens Aug. 1 and runs through Sept. 7, with the first 1,000 preregistered volunteers receiving a commemorative giveaway and a free native tree while supplies last. Participants should bring garden gloves, a refillable water bottle and grabbers if available, while cleanup supplies will be provided.
