💸 Giving Circle with a Big Impact
Volusia County Women Who Care (VCWWC) is proving that when it comes to philanthropy, small contributions can drive big change. At its recent quarterly meeting, the women-led giving circle crossed a major milestone: over $700,000 donated to 40 local nonprofits since its 2017 launch.
This quarter’s $30,000 grant recipient was the Presbyterian Counseling Center, which offers compassionate counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. Two other nonprofits—Halifax Repertory Theatre and Sender Retreat Foundation—received sustaining grants of $1,250 each from the group’s Community Partner Impact Fund.
The celebration didn’t stop there. VCWWC also honored its eighth anniversary with the debut Intern Leadership Award, recognizing student Fernanda Castillo-Enriquez with $1,000 for her exceptional contributions to the group’s mission.
With over 375 members contributing $100 each quarter and voting on funding recipients, VCWWC continues to be a powerful force for good—one quarter at a time.

🇺🇸 Rallying for Veterans, One Gift Basket at a Time
Coming up on December 6, the community will unite for the inaugural "Support Our Heroes" fundraiser, a heartwarming afternoon of live music, tasty bites, and over 50 raffled gift baskets—all in the name of Volusia County’s veterans.
Hosted at Woodland Towers in DeLand, the event benefits the Volusia Values Veterans Support Endowment, a joint effort by Volusia County, the Community Foundation, and Pay it Forward Packs. The fund helps combat veteran homelessness, supports food security, backs the county’s Stand Down event, and funds training for veteran service officers.
Veterans Services Director Scott Olson emphasized the event’s deeper message: when communities come together, they send a loud and clear message to their veterans—“you matter.”
With over 50,000 veterans calling Volusia home, the fundraiser is not just a celebration, but a commitment to ongoing support.

🏁 JR Motorsports Is Back on the Daytona Track
NASCAR fans, buckle up: JR Motorsports is returning to the 2026 Daytona 500 with Justin Allgaier behind the wheel of the No. 40 Traveller Whiskey Chevrolet. After an impressive debut in 2025—where Allgaier qualified his way into the race and finished ninth—the team is aiming to build on that momentum.
Traveller Whiskey, owned by country music star Chris Stapleton, is back as the primary sponsor. The brand is not just popular in bars—it was recently crowned Best of Class American Blended Whiskey in the New York World Spirits Competition.
JR Motorsports CEO Kelley Earnhardt Miller and Allgaier both expressed excitement about the return. “You didn’t think this was a one-and-done, did you?” Allgaier teased on social media.
Presuming he qualifies again, this will mark Allgaier’s 84th Cup Series start. With team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s storied Daytona history, fans have reason to believe lightning could strike twice.

🧪 STEM Magic Comes to Ormond’s Tomoka Elementary
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s STEM Outreach program brought science straight to the classroom this year, and Tomoka Elementary’s fifth-grade gifted students were all smiles—and learning.
Instead of traveling to Embry-Riddle’s campus, 37 young minds got hands-on with science right at their own school. ERAU students, led by outreach president Ryan Mercer, set up five interactive stations exploring static electricity, chemistry, kinetic energy, and physics. The goal? To light that spark and show kids that STEM is not just about formulas—it's about discovery.
STEM Outreach advisor and ERAU engineering professor Claudia Ehringer Lucas emphasized the importance of access, especially for kids who may not otherwise be exposed to STEM opportunities. As a bonus, her own son was among the eager learners.
The ERAU crew plans to visit Ormond Beach Cub Scouts next—extending their mission to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
