Alvarez Family Opens Angelina’s Beachside Diner with a Personal Touch
Angelina's Diner, recently opened by Javier and Jeannie Alvarez in Ormond Beach, aims to bring a New York diner experience with a Florida twist. Named after the couple’s daughter, Angelina, the restaurant offers a blend of classic comfort food and a modern, beachside ambiance. Located at the former IHOP at 190 S. Atlantic Ave., the space has been redesigned to reflect the relaxed, coastal vibe of the area. The menu includes breakfast all day, along with lunch and dinner options like burgers, sandwiches, and meatloaf, all made in-house.
Javier, with over 30 years in the restaurant industry, drew inspiration from the New York diners of the 1990s, aiming to recreate that nostalgic experience. The diner has already garnered positive feedback, and the Alvarezes are committed to listening to their customers' preferences. A grand opening is planned for December, with extended seating expected after the addition of a patio.

Goldsmith’s career spanned multiple racing disciplines, including NASCAR, Formula One, and the USAC Champ Car Series. Throughout his NASCAR career, Goldsmith secured nine victories and was a top-five finisher in the 1966 Cup Series standings. His versatility in competing in both stock car and open-wheel racing made him one of the few drivers to have raced in both the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500.
An aviation enthusiast, Goldsmith also owned an airport in Indiana and raced motorcycles in his youth. His legacy is enshrined in several motorsports halls of fame. Goldsmith is survived by his daughter, Linda, and was predeceased by his wife and son.
