🏥 Healing at Home: Noble Infusion Brings Advanced Care to Daytona
Chronic illness is a reality for many in our community, affecting people of all ages. For years, residents in the Daytona Beach area had limited access to cutting-edge treatments available in larger cities—until now.
Noble Infusion, a locally owned provider, is changing that narrative. By partnering with local physicians and staying on the forefront of FDA-approved infusion and injectable therapies, Noble Infusion ensures that patients can get advanced treatments for conditions like Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and Alzheimer’s—all without leaving town.
Unlike large, impersonal clinics, Noble’s locations are intentionally designed to be small, calm, and private. The goal? Comfort, dignity, and personalized care. Patients are treated in serene suites by a highly trained team, supported by a medical director with over 40 years of clinical experience.
From helping grandparents preserve their memory to empowering young adults to manage chronic conditions confidently, Noble Infusion is bringing both innovation and humanity to local care.

🎨 Spring Break Sorted: Action & Adventure at Gemini Springs
Planning ahead for Spring Break? Volusia County’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Division has you covered with a fun-packed, affordable Spring Break Camp from March 16–20 at scenic Gemini Springs Park in DeBary.
Designed for kids ages 5 to 12 (kindergarten completed), the camp offers a full day of supervised excitement from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Activities include arts and crafts, outdoor games, and field trips to Epic Theatres and the DeBary Splash Pad—plus plenty of time to explore the natural beauty of the park.
The weeklong experience costs $110, covering all activities and excursions. Kids just need to bring lunch, water, and snacks. Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.
For parents seeking a safe, enriching way to keep their kids engaged while school’s out, this camp strikes the perfect balance between structure and freedom—with fresh air and fun in abundance.

🌿 A Natural Refresh: Removing Invasives from Lighthouse Point Park
Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet is about to get a major ecological upgrade. Starting the week of February 16, Volusia County will begin removing invasive Brazilian pepper plants from nearly 43 acres of the park’s natural areas.
These plants, while deceptively festive with red berries, are anything but friendly to Florida’s ecosystems. Brazilian peppers crowd out native species, reduce biodiversity, and disrupt natural coastal processes. Their removal will make space for native vegetation to thrive and wildlife habitats to rebound.
Mechanical removal will ensure minimal disruption to the park’s landscape while supporting long-term ecological recovery. Best of all, the park will remain open throughout the work, with signage alerting visitors to ongoing improvements.
This effort not only enhances the park’s natural beauty and wildlife value—it also preps the area for a future boardwalk upgrade scheduled for 2027, which will improve ADA access and trail connectivity.

🐕🦺 Super Sniffers: Dogs Helping Detect Cancer
Dogs may not read test results, but their noses are giving lab equipment a run for its money. Thanks to a sense of smell that’s at least 10,000 times stronger than ours, specially trained “medical detection dogs” can pick up on tiny scent clues given off by cancer cells. These cells release unique patterns of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which escape in breath, sweat, urine, or stool—exactly where dogs’ noses shine.
In controlled studies, dogs have been trained to sniff samples and signal a “match” with simple behaviors like sitting, pawing, or tapping a container. Research has shown promising results across several cancers, including lung and breast cancer (studied by the nonprofit Pine Street Foundation), as well as colon cancer, where one Labrador retriever’s performance rivaled colonoscopy accuracy. Even more striking, two former bomb-sniffing German shepherds reached about 99–100% accuracy detecting prostate cancer from urine samples in one study.
While this work is still evolving and won’t replace standard screening anytime soon, it suggests future tests might one day be inspired—at least in part—by our four-legged friends’ extraordinary noses.
