November 1 Weather Update

As we usher in the month of November, residents can expect a shift to colder, drier air. Overnight temperatures are set to hover in the mid-50s across the region, while afternoon highs will range from the low to mid-60s. The day will be marked by breezy conditions accompanied by partly cloudy skies, with winds coming from the north at 20-30 mph with gusts as high as 40mph

Weather Hazards:

Local residents should be cautious of potential heavy surf and tidal flooding due to the onshore NE wind flow this week.

Forecast Glimpse:

The week is predicted to conclude on a cold note, with rain probabilities making a comeback. Additionally, a reminder for the community: Daylight Saving Time is set to commence this weekend. Adjust your clocks accordingly!

Ormond Beach City Commission Greenlights Tymber Creek Subdivision Design

On October 17, the Ormond Beach City Commission approved a preliminary design for the Enclave subdivision on Tymber Creek Road. This 26.17-acre development will house 12 single-family lots, each ranging from 1.7 to 2.75 acres. The Planning Board had earlier endorsed the design unanimously. The property, zoned as Suburban Residential, will have four shared access points, minimizing curb cuts. The development will also feature a 60-foot greenbelt landscape buffer and dedicated stormwater permits for each residence. The project has been designed with future expansion in mind, and the Site Plan Review Committee has also recommended its approval.

Local Projects to Benefit from Volusia County's Reallocated Pandemic Funds

In a bid to fortify local responses to the persisting challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, Volusia County's Community Assistance Division is channeling unspent funds from a previous award by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant– Coronavirus Program (CDBG-CV). This initiative, stemming from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, has set aside $625,000 specifically for public facility enhancements and services. The primary target for these funds are projects that cater to low- or moderate-income demographics, with a clear emphasis on pandemic prevention, preparation, or response.

While the funds are available for immediate use, the projects they support must be ready for swift implementation and should be completed by June 30, 2025. Daytona Beach, Port Orange, and Deltona are exempt from this allocation, given their separate entitlement to the Community Development Block Grant.

Local governments and qualifying not-for-profit agencies 501(c)(3) interested in tapping into this opportunity should contact Eva Colee at 386-736-5955 ext. 15593 or [email protected] for application details. The deadline for entries is 2 p.m., December 1.
