American Airlines is set to add weekend nonstop flights from Daytona Beach to Washington, D.C., commencing February 2024 and running through early May. This move follows the airline's initial nonstop services to D.C. launched in 2022 and continued in the spring of 2023. New Dog Friendly Beach A Big Hit!

On Saturday morning, community members and their four-legged friends gathered to inaugurate the first segment of coastline designated for dogs in Volusia County in over 30 years. The celebrated opening took place at Andy Romano Beachfront Park, marking a new era for pet-friendly outdoor spaces in the region.

The designated area spans a half-mile of Ormond Beach, stretching from Milsap Road to Rockefeller Drive, which officially opened to canines on Wednesday. This provisional arrangement will be under observation for 18 months. During this period, the county council will closely monitor the situation to decide if the initiative should be made permanent.

For those looking to enjoy the seaside with their pets, the beach welcomes dogs from sunrise to sunset. Yet, the privilege comes with responsibilities: dog owners must clean up after their pets, keep them on leashes not exceeding six feet, carry proof of rabies vaccination, and ensure their companions do not disrupt the dunes or local wildlife.

The initiative, spearheaded by District 4 Councilman Troy Kent since his first council meeting, has come to fruition with sustained effort and support from the council. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Volusia County Council Chairman Jeff Brower celebrated the successful result of public engagement and collaboration, encouraging the community to maintain their active participation in local governance.

Million-Dollar Debt Leads Serene Pavers into Bankruptcy Proceedings

Serene Pavers & Stonescapes, a business based in New Smyrna Beach known for its stonework, has succumbed to financial strain, initiating bankruptcy proceedings after abruptly shutting down last month. Court filings reveal that the company is indebted to around 150 creditors to the tune of approximately $1.6 million, leaving over a hundred customers with unfulfilled contracts for which they had already paid deposits.

Many of these customers, along with subcontractors, have voiced their concerns on a Facebook group dedicated to those affected by Serene Pavers' practices, indicating that they might pursue claims, having found that their names were not listed in the bankruptcy documents.

Under Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the company would be subjected to liquidation, meaning its assets could be sold off to repay creditors. However, the acceptance of Serene Pavers' bankruptcy filing is not guaranteed. According to guidelines from the federal courts, a filing can be rejected for various infractions, such as fraudulent activities or intentional concealment of assets.
