Despite Hendrick Motorsports' history of success at Daytona, their best qualifier was Kyle Larson in third. The victim, a 32-year-old man, was found deceased in his home from acute fentanyl toxicity. Investigations linked Breeden to the sale through text messages and an undercover drug purchase. The case highlights the severe legal outcomes for distributing dangerous drugs and contributes to the broader discourse on the opioid epidemic.

Victor Wainwright to Headline Reopening of Newly Renovated Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center

The Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center is celebrating its reopening with a concert by former Volusia County resident Victor Wainwright and The Train on February 17, following a $1.7 million renovation. The event doubles as a fundraiser to support the center's operations. The renovation includes a grand entry, redesigned lobby, improved lighting, an art exhibition area, and new seating. The center's transformation enhances its role as a cultural hub, with an open house scheduled for February 18 to showcase the upgrades and feature performances and art exhibits.

  • Marquil Cratre'vea Richardson, 18, Ormond Beach: Arrested on February 6, facing charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, and obstructing an officer without violence. No bail was set.

Holly Hill Police Department Arrests:

  • Francisco J. Dipi, 32, Holly Hill: Arrested on February 3, charged with smuggling contraband into prison and battery. Bail set at $5,500.

  • Jamecca Moshae Smith, 28, Holly Hill: Arrested on February 4, charged with possession of a weapon by an in-state felon and aggravated battery. Bail set at $5,000.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office Arrests:

  • Michael Shawn McBride, 54, Ormond Beach: Arrested on February 6, charged with domestic battery by strangulation and battery. Bail set at $7,500.
