Innovative Tracking Unveils Record-Breaking Crowds at Daytona Beach Bike Week

Daytona Beach's 83rd annual Bike Week witnessed a significant technological advancement with the city's inaugural use of geofencing technology to track attendance, revealing over 420,000 visitors over its 10-day duration. Through a collaboration with Placer.ai, facilitated by a $26,250 agreement, Daytona Beach was able to move beyond rough estimations to precise, data-driven insights. This technology enabled the city to monitor movements and gather "location intelligence" from mobile devices across three key areas: Main Street, Daytona International Speedway, and Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard.

The analysis showed 423,300 unique visitors, translating to 668,700 visits, indicating high re-visitation rates. This marked a slight increase over the previous year and a significant rise from pre-COVID levels, showcasing the event's growing appeal. Geofencing not only offered an accurate count but also provided valuable demographic insights and visitor behavior patterns, establishing a new standard for event management and planning. This shift towards digital tracking underscores the potential of leveraging technology to enhance the understanding and execution of large-scale events.

Where Is“Blues & Brews Bistro”? A Local Bistro's Fight for a Fresh Start

Courtesy of Blues & Brews

Blues & Brews Bistro, a popular local eatery previously located in Ormond Beach, is in the throes of a legal dispute with landlord Dimitrious Bourtzakis over unpaid rent and maintenance issues. The owners, James and Rosie Yagielo, cite neglect of the building's maintenance, including unresolved roof leaks and sewage problems, as reasons for withholding rent.

Despite these challenges, the Yagielos were eagerly preparing to open their establishment in the building previously occupied by Persimmon Hollow Brewing Co., with plans to retain the core of their business while introducing some menu changes and a more rustic vibe. However, the Persimmon Hollow plans fell through and they are still in a search for new quarters. The ongoing legal battle, centered on claims of owed rent exceeding $90,000, is poised to be resolved through a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing, allowing the Yagielos to dissolve the current company and relaunch under a new entity. This move is both a strategic pivot and a testament to the couple's resilience and commitment to their venture and community. The couple is committed to keep their dedicated patrons updated on their progress.

Steer-In-Burger Offers Fresh Meat and Hand Cut Fries

Along S. Nova Rd., David Martin, a seasoned entrepreneur with a rich history of businesses and adventures, including piloting his own plane around the globe, decided to settle down and open Steer In Burger. At 73, David embarked on transforming a space with bright orange and red walls and a black ceiling into the welcoming burger shop it is today. After months of DIY renovation from a Mexican restaurant, Steer In Burger opened its doors in April, 2023, offering a menu centered around freshness and quality, a realization David had after struggling to find good, fresh food in the area.

Delicious Burgers

Steer In Burger stands out not just for its freshly ground meat burgers and hand-cut fries, but also for its Philly cheesesteaks, vegetarian options, desserts, and a variety of drinks including beer, milkshakes, and root beer floats. David's commitment to the community shines through with "Family Day" every Tuesday offering $5 hamburgers $6 cheeseburgers and $2 hot dogs. Spend $50 you get a free churro . It’s dine in only and they do it to give families an opportunity to go out to eat.
