The late Hawaiian Tropic founder Ron Rice's mansion in Ormond Beach has been sold for $3.6 million, closing a prolonged sale process. Located at 175 Ocean Shore Blvd., the property was purchased in an all-cash deal by undisclosed buyers, represented by Bill Navarra of Realty Pros Assured. The sale, finalized on March 15, took 191 days from contract to close, reflecting the mansion's need for significant updates. The three-story, 12,400 square-foot home, a relic of the 1980s, is planned for extensive restoration. This transaction is part of a surge in luxury home sales in Volusia County, with the Rice mansion being one of the most notable for its historical and cultural significance.

Mainland Buccaneers Triumph Over Atlantic, Eye State Championship Run

Mainland High's flag football team clinched a significant 20-8 victory against Atlantic High, marking an end to their recent struggles and setting the stage for a hopeful return to the final four. The Buccaneers overturned an initial 8-0 deficit with a strong fourth-quarter performance, highlighted by touchdowns from Adrianna Mallumaci and Kiera Williams. This win, celebrated on their home field, not only broke a four-game losing streak but also restored confidence in their offensive strategy. With a bolstered record and renewed spirit, Mainland looks forward to surpassing last year's achievements and aiming for the state championship. The team's solid defense throughout the season and the recent offensive resurgence are key factors as they approach the final games of the regular season.

A Few Comments:

  • “Really, this is a debate? Are people walking around with blinders. Gun violence needs to be curtailed and if leaving this rule in place could possibly save one person from being hurt it’s well worth it…"

  • “Research has shown that waiting periods and background checks are effective."

  • “The waiting period should be longer not eliminated”

  • “How about background and mental checks? You can't do that at a gun show.”

  • “If someone can buy a gun, a background check should definitely be done and a 3 day waiting period is understandable.”

Steer-In-Burger Offers Fresh Meat and Hand Cut Fries

Along S. Nova Rd., David Martin, a seasoned entrepreneur with a rich history of businesses and adventures, including piloting his own plane around the globe, decided to settle down and open Steer In Burger. At 73, David embarked on transforming a space with bright orange and red walls and a black ceiling into the welcoming burger shop it is today. After months of DIY renovation from a Mexican restaurant, Steer In Burger opened its doors in April, 2023, offering a menu centered around freshness and quality, a realization David had after struggling to find good, fresh food in the area.

Delicious Burgers

Steer In Burger stands out not just for its freshly ground meat burgers and hand-cut fries, but also for its Philly cheesesteaks, vegetarian options, desserts, and a variety of drinks including beer, milkshakes, and root beer floats. It’s dine in only and they do it to give families an opportunity to go out to eat.
