The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has unveiled a comprehensive pedestrian safety project along State Road A1A in Ormond Beach, aimed at reducing accidents and enhancing the well-being of pedestrians. The initiative features eight new mid-block crossings, raised medians, and the introduction of a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon at Rockefeller Drive. These measures, part of a $4.1 million safety project, were showcased in a "Walk and Talk" event, underscoring FDOT's commitment to safeguarding the community. Additional enhancements include upgraded sidewalks, new traffic separators, improved lighting, and facilities for the visually impaired, reflecting a holistic approach to pedestrian safety.

  • River Beach Drive

Looking For A Dog? Waived Fees and a Call for Action: Lake County Shelter's Bid to Ease Capacity Strain

Brandy - Lake County Animal Shelter

The Lake County Animal Shelter, renowned for treating its canine residents to Milk-Bone biscuits with peanut butter, is urgently seeking community support to address its capacity crisis, currently 70% over its limit with nearly 170 dogs. The shelter's director emphasizes the need for adopters, foster homes, and pet reclaimers, highlighting the nationwide trend of extended stays for shelter dogs. To combat this, the shelter encourages public involvement in various forms and has waived adoption and reclaim fees temporarily. Additionally, the shelter stresses the importance of ensuring pets' microchips are registered to aid in quick reunifications. So, if you’re looking for a dog or cat check out their website at:
