Woman Fatally Struck by Train in Holly Hill
A woman was tragically killed early Saturday in Holly Hill after being hit by a northbound train while she was crossing the railroad tracks near 3rd Street. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reported that identification efforts are underway, and efforts to notify the woman’s next of kin are ongoing.

Volusia County, including Daytona Beach, is leading the nation in luxury vacation home sales, with a 47% increase in property values and a 19% rise in transactions, according to a recent Pacaso report. The area's appeal is highlighted by a record $5.7 million sale in New Smyrna Beach. Local experts believe Daytona's ranking as a top retirement destination enhances its attractiveness for high-end buyers, making it a potential permanent home for many newcomers enchanted by its tranquil, beachy allure.
Yoto Recalls Yoto Mini Speakers for Children Due to Burn and Fire Hazards
The Yoto Mini speaker has been recalled due to risks of overheating and melting, with reports of seven incidents but no injuries. Consumers owning this children's screen-free speaker, identifiable by SKU PRPLXX00860, should stop its use and contact Yoto for a free replacement charging cable. The recalled units, sold online and in stores from November 2021 to April 2024 for about $70, require a photo of the severed original cable to receive the replacement.
