Florida AG Battles Biden's Bold Debt Forgiveness Plan

In a financial vanishing act by the Biden-Harris administration, 21,280 Floridians will soon find their student debt erased, as part of a broader sweep that will clear $7.4 billion for 277,000 Americans. This latest cancellation raises the total vanished federal student debt to a staggering $153 billion, affecting 4.3 million Americans nationwide.

Biden, keeping a campaign promise, is aggressively tackling the student debt crisis despite numerous blockades by Republicans and setbacks from the Supreme Court. The administration's pivot to the SAVE plan—an income-driven repayment strategy—aims to make higher education a stepping stone to middle-class stability rather than a financial barrier.

However, not everyone's buying what Biden's selling. Florida's AG, Ashley Moody, alongside a coalition of states, has thrown down the gauntlet, suing over the SAVE plan which they decry as an "extraordinarily expensive and controversial policy" bypassing Congressional approval. Moody vowed to protect "hard-working Americans" from footing the bill for others' educational debts.

The debt relief includes various programs under the SAVE initiative, correcting previous issues with Income-Driven Repayment Plans and Public Service Loan Forgiveness, cumulatively canceling $9.1 billion in Florida alone. The relief extends broadly, from those duped by predatory schools to public servants and disabled individuals. The White House underscores that the measures will significantly alleviate financial pressures for many, especially those earning under $15 an hour, who will see their payment obligations disappear.

What Do You Think?

Given that the Student Loan program does need an overhaul, do you believe this action is appropriate?

New Oceanside Grill Set to Launch in Ormond-by-the-Sea

Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill: Facebook

After three years of extensive renovations fraught with many challenges, Johnny Lulgjuraj is set to open Oceanside Beach Bar and Grill in the former location of Betty's A1A Cafe in Ormond-by-the-Sea. Initially expected to be a quick update, the project faced delays due to permit issues and rising costs from the pandemic's impact on construction. The restaurant, a family venture rich with personal history, plans to open in early May. It will offer meals throughout the day and feature dishes similar to those at Lulgjuraj's original Flagler Beach location.

Don’t Be Bullied! Microsoft Pushes Windows 11 Upgrades with AI PC Hype

Microsoft is aggressively promoting Windows 11 upgrades by targeting Windows 10 users with ads, even if their PCs are not compatible. As Windows 10's end of support in Ocotber of 2025 approaches, users face uncertainty over upgrade costs and hardware requirements. Microsoft's push includes transitioning to AI PCs, which will necessitate advanced capabilities not yet confirmed as standard. The company's strategy of urging upgrades without clear benefits or requirements continues to cause confusion and frustration among consumers. Even if support ends, your computer will likely run just fine on the existing Windows 10.
