No Mercy for Bambi As Ormond Beach Deer Left to Limp with Plastic In Hoof
A young deer in Ormond Beach is suffering from a plastic piece stuck in its hoof, causing it to limp. Jessica Kelley, a concerned local, has been trying to get help for the injured deer from wildlife rescue agencies to no avail. Despite her efforts, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has declined to intervene, fearing that attempting to tranquilize the deer could do more harm than good.
Sedative Scandal: AP Uncovers Lethal Outcomes in Florida Police Encounters
An AP investigation reveals that 17 deaths in Florida over the last decade involved police confrontations where individuals were also sedated by medical personnel. Part of a national figure exceeding 1,000, these deaths occurred during police attempts to subdue individuals using non-lethal means like Tasers and physical force. The investigation highlights Florida as a key area for such incidents, with sedatives like midazolam and ketamine frequently used. Concerns about these practices include the lack of investigation into their appropriateness and the potential dangers of sedation during police encounters.

Speakers highlighted the risks children face online, while local organizations provided additional resources. The Dream Center plans to continue these educational efforts with another event in the fall and hopes to extend presentations into local schools.
