NYC Clinic’s Bold Strategy to Quell Kids’ Anxiety Through Exposure
Many of today’s youth are increasingly dealing with anxiety, and Philadelhia’s Temple University's clinical psychologist Philip Kendall is addressing this through his clinic that combines affordable treatment with research. Kendall emphasizes the importance of exposure rather than avoidance to manage anxiety and warns parents against facilitating avoidance behaviors. His recommended strategies include gradual exposure to fears and a balanced approach to social media and gaming to ensure that these do not become escape mechanisms.
Volusia County Tightens Beach Driving Rules; Higher Fees on the Horizon
Volusia County maintains strict rules for beach driving to ensure safety and conservation. Designated driving zones are marked, and conservation areas are protected. Drivers must adhere to speed limits and noise restrictions, with headlights on and a window open. Beach access costs $20 daily, with potential upcoming changes to fee structures. Notably, "Carolina Squat" vehicles are banned, and alcohol is prohibited.

Advent Health Courtesy Photo
AdventHealth Daytona Beach has earned the elite Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification, a first in Volusia, Flagler, and St. Johns counties, solidifying its status as a top-tier provider of serious stroke care. This designation, awarded by DNV based on stringent standards, places the hospital at the forefront of regional stroke treatment. Amidst these developments, AdventHealth Daytona Beach is also undergoing a $220 million expansion to enhance its facilities, including a specialized unit for stroke care. The expansion is partly funded by a significant donation from local philanthropists, which has also facilitated the launch of a dedicated neuroscience center.
