Mainland Boys Secure Fourth Consecutive District Track Title, Girls Place Strong Third

The Mainland boys track and field team won the District 6-3A championship for the fourth year in a row, while the girls team finished third, their best of the season. Standout athletes Ezaiah Shine and Kiera Williams each scored 34 points, with Shine winning the boys 200-meter dash and Williams setting a new record in the girls 400 meters. Seabreeze High saw wins from Lauren Lancing in the girls 400-meter hurdles and Chandler Mitzo in the boys javelin. The teams are now looking forward to the regional meet.

Ormond Beach Motorcyclist Dies in Collision Near Daytona Beach

A motorcyclist from Ormond Beach was killed in a collision with an SUV near Daytona Beach on Friday evening, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 5:41 p.m. at the intersection of LPGA Boulevard and Derbyshire Road when a Ford Escape, making a left turn, collided with the eastbound motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and the SUV driver was treated for minor injuries. Speeding by the motorcyclist was noted by witnesses, and an investigation is ongoing.
