In Ormond Beach, community leaders and residents are advocating for the inclusion of the Chief Tomokie statue in the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation's "11 to Save" list for 2024. The statue, created in 1955 and located in Tomoka State Park, has deteriorated over the years. The Chief Tomokie Preservation Group is seeking community letters of support by May 15, aiming to use the listing to gain visibility and funding for restoration efforts.
