The VITA program, supported by the Community Foundation and United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties, completed over 2,000 tax returns this tax season, delivering $2,018,746 in refunds to local residents. This achievement was made possible by the dedication of over 85 volunteers who contributed more than 3,500 hours. The program primarily assists the ALICE population, helping those employed yet economically vulnerable.

While the program is supported by a larger number of petition signers and is reported to have high compliance rates, it faces opposition from a former city commissioner and some locals who are concerned about enforcement and safety. The upcoming city commission meeting is expected to be a critical juncture for deciding the program's fate.
ZLINE Recalls Thousands of Electric Ovens Nationwide Due to Injury Risks

ZLINE Kitchen and Bath has recalled several models of its built-in electric wall ovens due to a risk of door springs failing, which can lead to injuries. The affected models include AWS-30, AWD-30, and similar units sold between December 2020 and September 2022. Customers are urged to stop using the ovens and contact ZLINE for a free replacement door. There have been reports of 95 incidents and one minor injury.
The ovens were available through major retailers including Best Buy, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, and The Range Hood Store, as well as online platforms like Best Buy, Build.com, Costco, and Wayfair, with prices ranging from $1,900 to $3,950.
