Flagler’s Swillerbees to Bring Donuts and Community Spirit to Ormond Beach

Swillerbees Craft Donuts of Flagler Beach is set to open a new location in Ormond Beach at the former site of Donnie's Donuts. Dakota Wehde, co-owner with his parents, views the expansion as a natural fit, prompted by the vacancy left by Donnie's. Since taking over Swillerbees, the Wehdes have significantly increased production and contributed to local community services. The new store, expected to open in July, aims to create a welcoming, family-like atmosphere for the community.

High Tide Challenges but Doesn't Dampen Daytona Beach Memorial Day Spirits

This Memorial Day, Daytona Beach presented a picturesque but cramped shoreline, with umbrellas lined up neatly against a backdrop of minimal beach space due to the high tide. Visitors sometimes found themselves occasionally submerged but undeterred, cherishing the opportunity to be near the ocean.

Despite the encroaching waves that temporarily claimed much of the sandy beach, Beachgoers were looking forward to more room at low tide. However, the beach conditions fluctuated significantly, with rip tides posing a constant threat and varying from medium to high hazard levels throughout the day.

The high tide also impacted beach access, leading to the closure of several beach ramps in Volusia County, either due to overcrowding or the lack of space for vehicles on the narrow strip of beach. Despite these challenges, the holiday weekend saw robust travel, with AAA predicting record-breaking travel numbers not seen in over two decades.
