Free Summer Meals for Children Available at Multiple Ormond Beach Locations

The Summer Food Service Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will provide free meals to children and teens in Ormond Beach from June 3 to August 9. Meals will be available at multiple locations including Camp Destiny, Emmanuel International Church, Nova Community Center, Ormond Beach Regional Library, South Ormond Neighborhood Center, and the YMCA Ormond Beach. These sites will offer breakfast and lunch on weekdays, with all sites closed on July 4. The program aims to combat food insecurity during the summer when school meals are not available.

Orlando Attorney John Morgan Targets State Politics, Clashes With Senate Candidate Tom Leek

John Morgan, a notable Orlando lawyer, has publicly criticized Florida House Appropriations Chair Tom Leek (R - Ormond Beach) and Governor Ron DeSantis for their handling of the state's homeowners' insurance crisis. A political ad from Leek's camp has labeled Morgan and similar critics as adversaries, prompting a fierce response from Morgan. Leek, currently campaigning for a state Senate seat, enjoys substantial financial backing and endorsements, but faces scrutiny over legislative actions and his personal financial growth.

Two Women Hospitalized After Being Hit by Beach Patrol Vehicle in Daytona

Two women were injured and hospitalized after being hit by a patrol vehicle driven by Sergeant Arthur Gendreau of the Volusia County Beach Safety on Daytona Beach. The accident occurred while Gendreau was talking to a colleague from his vehicle. He provided immediate assistance to the victims alongside other responders. Although cited for reckless driving, Gendreau has not been criminally charged. An internal investigation by the Volusia Sheriff's Office is underway to determine further disciplinary actions.

- Bryan Mejia, 26, Ormond Beach, arrested May 18: charged with possession of a controlled substance, paraphernalia, and prowling. Bail: $3,500.

- Joaquim Carreira, 31, Ormond Beach, arrested May 22: charged with battery on person 65+ years. No bail set.

Holly Hill Police Department

- Matthew W. S. Clausman, 35, Holly Hill, arrested May 18: charged with battery. No bail set.

- Sarah L. Sheldon, 43, Holly Hill, arrested May 20: charged with aggravated battery on person 65+ years. No bail set.

- Terrence L. Inman, 44, Holly Hill, arrested May 20: charged with aggravated battery on person 65+ years, possession of a controlled substance, and paraphernalia. Bail: $5,500.

- Erik J. Gibson, 34, Holly Hill, arrested May 21: charged with trespass, possession of a controlled substance, and paraphernalia. Bail: $6,000.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office

- Jason G. Ryals, 43, Ormond Beach, arrested May 21: charged with grand theft from dwelling, false pawned item info, dealing in stolen property, and armed burglary. Bail: $2,500.

- Timothy M. Bourn, 22, Holly Hill, arrested May 23: charged with home invasion robbery with firearm or deadly weapon. No bail set.

- Jaiden M. Hunt, 20, Holly Hill, arrested May 23: charged with home invasion robbery with firearm or deadly weapon. No bail set.
