Ground Beef Recall at Walmart - Potential E. coli Contamination

Cargill Meat Solutions, based in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, has issued a recall for about 16,243 pounds of raw ground beef due to potential contamination with E. coli O157:H7, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The affected beef, produced on April 26 and 27 of this year, is now subject to recall and includes products distributed to Walmart stores nationwide.

These recalled items, identifiable by the USDA mark of inspection and the establishment number "EST. 86P" on their labels, were flagged for recall after the company discovered that a batch of product, previously set aside, was mistakenly used in the production process. Although there have been no confirmed illnesses linked to these products, FSIS advises consumers who have purchased the beef to either throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. Concerned individuals are urged to consult their healthcare provider. (USDA-FSIS)
