Gas Prices in Florida Drop Slightly, Remain Below National Average

Gas prices in northeast Florida remain over $3 per gallon, but there are signs of relief. AAA reports that falling crude oil and gasoline futures have made summer road trips cheaper. However, a slight uptick in oil prices might stall the decline at the pump. The average gas price in Florida is $3.22 per gallon, down six cents from last week and 24 cents from last month, below the national average of $3.44. Flagler and Volusia counties report slightly higher prices at $3.33 and $3.27 respectively. The highest gas prices in Florida are in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton at $3.45, while the cheapest are in Crestview-Fort Walton Beach at $3.05. GasBuddy lists the most affordable gas options in Volusia and Flagler counties, though prices are subject to change and may be cash-only offers. Member-only stations are excluded. In the Ormond area the cheapest gas is at Buc-cee's at $2.99.

Daniel Dragone, owner of a pool cleaning company and longtime Ormond Beach resident, has entered the race for the City Commission Zone 3 seat. Filing his candidacy on June 10, Dragone aims to combat overdevelopment in the city, a concern central to his campaign. He has previously run for the commission in 2014 and is actively involved in community organizations, including the Ormond Beach Historical Society and the Chamber of Commerce. Dragone is running against Barbara Bonarrigo, a manufacturing company CEO, and Kristin Deaton, a sales manager, with the primary election set for August 20. (Ormond Observer) ($)
