Retired Officer Reveals Toxic Culture at Holly Hill Police Department

A retired officer has exposed a culture of sexual harassment and unprofessional behavior at the Holly Hill Police Department, following an investigation into the department's toxic environment. Robert Milne, who served with the department for over seven years, reported numerous incidents to human resources, but no actions were taken. Milne described the department as a "frat house," plagued by inappropriate jokes and comments. Despite a 104-page investigation, Milne believes the report only scratches the surface of the abuse faced by female staff. His post-retirement efforts to address these issues with City Manager Joseph Forte were similarly ignored, leading to his dismissal as a "disgruntled employee." Forte acknowledged ongoing disciplinary actions but provided no specifics. With the appointment of new Police Chief Byron Williams, Milne hopes for a transformative change in the department’s culture. (See Article & Video MyNews13)

A major drug trafficking ring in Volusia County was dismantled on Thursday following an eight-month multi-jurisdictional investigation. Over three dozen suspects, including ringleaders Toure Wilder, Bobby Wilder, Khyree Isaac, and Allen Messer, were identified and many were arrested during coordinated raids. The operation, involving local, state, and federal agencies, led to the seizure of over a kilogram of fentanyl, 19 pounds of methamphetamine, and 69 grams of cocaine, among other items. Sheriff Mike Chitwood praised the collaborative effort, noting its significant impact on the local drug supply. The Florida Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the cases, with Attorney General Ashley Moody expressing gratitude to law enforcement partners. The investigation was led by the Volusia Bureau of Investigation and included assistance from numerous agencies. Sheriff Chitwood warned drug dealers that law enforcement is determined to continue their efforts to eliminate narcotics from the community. (Volusia County Sheriff)
