Adopt for Free, Foster for Pay - Local Shelter's Creative Solution to Dog Influx

The Halifax Humane Society in Daytona Beach is facing a capacity crisis due to an influx of adult dogs. To address this, the shelter has implemented a comprehensive plan including free adoptions and paid fostering opportunities. The organization is offering a $50 weekly stipend to foster families, along with a $250 bonus for successful permanent placements. Additionally, the shelter is providing resources and support to both adopters and foster families.
The Humane Society is also working to prevent future surrenders by assisting current pet owners facing challenges. This multi-pronged approach aims to reduce shelter population and ensure animal welfare. (Spectrum News13)
