Salt Life Stores in Florida Face Closure After Delta Apparel Bankruptcy

Delta Apparel Inc., the parent company of the popular beach-themed brand Salt Life, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and plans to sell several of its Florida stores. The Georgia-based company has warned that nearly 100 employees across 16 locations could face job losses by the end of August if a buyer is not found.

In WARN notices sent to Florida officials, Delta Apparel cited "financial and business difficulties" as the motivation behind the sale. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware on June 30, attributing the decision to decreased demand and shrinking profit margins.

The nearby Salt Life stores at risk are:

- 2700 State Road 16, Suite 713, St. Augustine
- 1100 Cornerstone Blvd., Suite 910, Daytona Beach

Delta Apparel is set to hold an auction for Salt Life on or before August 20, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Florida Among High-Risk States with Unfixed Takata Airbag Inflators

The NHTSA reports that, ten years after the initial recall, over 6.4 million U.S. vehicles still have unrepaired Takata airbags, with 305,000 in Florida alone. High-risk Zone A states, including Florida, face increased danger due to heat and humidity. Orlando has 56,000 affected vehicles. Takata airbags have caused 27 deaths and over 400 injuries in the U.S. Owners can check recall status for free at Carfax.com/recall. The previous parts shortage has been resolved, and repairs are free and take one to two hours. The Carfax Car Care App offers ongoing recall updates. (Learn More at ClickOrlando.com)
