SpaceX Deals With Launch Suspension as FAA Investigates Falcon 9 Rocket Failure

The Space Coast is currently without its usual rocket launches as the FAA investigates a recent Falcon 9 mission failure in California. The malfunction, caused by a liquid oxygen leak, has grounded all Falcon 9 launches. Tourists and locals, while disappointed, remain optimistic about a quick resolution. The grounding may impact upcoming missions, including Polaris Dawn and Crew-9. SpaceX is working with the FAA to resolve the issue and ensure safety. Ormond Beach Mayoral Candidates Outline Visions at Community Forum

The Citizens For Ormond Beach hosted a forum on July 17 for mayoral candidates Susan Persis and Jason Leslie. Persis, a long-time public servant, emphasized her experience on the City Commission and her commitment to addressing traffic and homelessness. Leslie, a local businessman, focused on his personal experiences with community issues and his concerns about the proposed fuel farm. Both candidates supported local governance and improving communication with residents. Persis highlighted the city’s efforts to block the fuel farm project and the need for more affordable housing, while Leslie proposed working with various agencies to tackle climate change. Ormond Beach Zone 3-Candidates Discuss Community Concerns

The Citizens For Ormond Beach held a forum for City Commission Zone 3 candidates on July 17. Deaton, emphasizing her deep community roots, highlighted issues like police shortages and infrastructure needs. Bonarrigo, a longtime resident and community board member, stressed infrastructure improvements and proactive engagement with residents. • Steven Breitmaier, 67, Ormond Beach, arrested July 8 for battery on a person 65+. No bail.

• Timothy Nolin, 64, Ormond Beach, arrested July 9 for aggravated battery and assault. Bail: $7,500.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office

• Dylan Preis, 18, Ormond Beach, arrested July 5 for aggravated assault, premeditated first-degree murder, and firing a missile into a vehicle. No bail.

• Stuart Quist, 38, Ormond Beach, arrested July 5 for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. Bail: $3,000.

• Louis Charles Martin, 54, Ormond Beach, arrested July 6 for possession of paraphernalia, cocaine, and an unregistered motor vehicle. Bail: $3,500.

• Nicholas Nisivoccia, 33, Ormond Beach, arrested July 10 for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. Bail: $1,500.

• Dylan Lee Thomas, 26, Holly Hill, arrested July 10 for possession of Schedule II and III substances. No bail.
