Ormond Beach’s MLK Committee Announces Free Backpack Giveaway Event
On August 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the South Ormond Neighborhood Center will host the Carrying Hope Back 2 School event, organized by Ormond Beach’s Martin Luther King Jr. Committee. The event will distribute 400 free backpacks and include educational sessions, games, and food from Gordon Food Service. Tina Carlyle, the MLK committee chair, proposed the event to boost community outreach, partnering with Njeria Bell, who previously organized her own backpack giveaways during the pandemic. The event will also offer information on safety, health, and available resources to support local families. (See Full Story at Ormond Observer) $

“Honey Can You Stop At The Store and Pickup A Gallon Of Milk And A Box of 9mm Ammo?”
Florida grocery stores might soon feature vending machines dispensing ammunition, thanks to American Rounds. These advanced machines, already in use in states like Texas and Colorado, include security features such as ID scanning and facial recognition to ensure buyers are over 21. Built with double steel walls, they aim to offer a secure and efficient way for consumers to purchase ammunition. Growing interest from Florida retailers suggests the state could soon join the trend. American Rounds reports a surge in demand, with 200 additional units on order, reflecting a shift toward convenient ammo retail.
