Holly Hill’s new Police Chief, Byron Williams, arrives with 24 years of experience from the Daytona Beach Police Department, where he advanced from traffic control officer to captain. A Quincy native and Chipola College graduate, Williams steps into his role amid controversy following the resignation of former Chief Jeffery Miller.

Committed to revitalizing the department, Williams begins his day with mental preparation at his home and focuses on fostering community engagement and inclusion. He is meeting with every staff member and has praised Interim Chief Mark Barker for his help during the transition. The department aims to grow from 22 to 26 officers.

Virginia Child Faces Felony Charges in Flagler School Threats Case

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has arrested an 11-year-old from Henrico, Virginia, following a ten-week investigation into a series of threats made against schools in Flagler County. The threats, which spanned from May 14 to May 22, targeted Buddy Taylor Middle School and four other schools, including First Baptist Christian Academy and Flagler Palm Coast High School. They included bomb threats and warnings of mass shootings, with calls made to multiple emergency communications centers across states.

Detective First Class O’Barr of FCSO’s Homeland Security Section identified the suspect, Noah Magee, after a thorough investigation involving voice pattern analysis and digital forensics. Magee confessed to making the threats, which also included a threat to the Maryland State House. He is currently held in a Virginia juvenile detention facility facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. This case follows an earlier arrest of a local 13-year-old in connection with similar threats.

FWC Calls for Increased Vigilance and Compliance with Divers-Down Flag Rules

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is emphasizing the importance of safety for boaters and divers, particularly regarding the use of divers-down flags. These red flags with a white stripe must be clearly visible, measuring at least 12 by 12 inches in water and 20 by 24 inches on vessels. Boat operators are required to stay 300 feet away in open waters and 100 feet in narrow channels, while divers should remain within 300 feet of their flags. Ensuring adherence to these regulations is vital to prevent accidents, as the FWC often responds to incidents involving divers and vessels.

Patrick Bailey, an 83-year-old man who went missing after missing his flight from Orlando to Oregon, has been located and is in good health, his family confirmed. Bailey, who missed his flight due to nationwide CrowdStrike outages affecting airports, decided to return home by bus. He was unaware of the investigation into his whereabouts until he was en route and realized he had left his phone at a local hotel.

The Orlando Police Department initiated a search after Bailey failed to board his flight. He was identified by staff at an Orlando bus station and later tracked through several stops across the country. His family expressed gratitude to the Orlando Police, Crescent City Elks Lodge #1689, the media, and social media supporters for their assistance.

Bailey is reported to be in good spirits following the ordeal.
