Falcon 9 Rocket Delivers European Galileo L13 Satellite, Achieves 22nd Booster Flight

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral on Tuesday, successfully delivering the European Commission’s Galileo L13 satellite into orbit. The satellite, part of Europe's global navigation system, will bolster the constellation used for precise worldwide navigation services.

This mission represented the 22nd flight for the Falcon 9’s first-stage booster, which had previously been used in Crew-3, Crew-4, and numerous Starlink launches. After separating from the second stage, the booster landed on the Just Read the Instructions droneship in the Atlantic Ocean, continuing SpaceX’s strategy of reusing boosters to enhance the sustainability of space travel.

SpaceX reported that the booster encountered higher-than-normal heat and pressure during reentry, providing crucial data for future missions. This knowledge will inform SpaceX’s ongoing efforts to refine booster designs, further advancing its goal of creating reusable rockets that reduce the costs and environmental impact of space travel.

Shave for the Brave' Returns in October with $100,000 Goal for Local Nonprofit

Bill Fletcher, owner of Fletcher's Irish Pub, is set to launch the fifth annual "Shave for the Brave" fundraiser this October, with a goal of raising $100,000 for the Live Like Cameron Foundation. This Palm Coast-based nonprofit honors the memory of 10-year-old Cameron Fulling, who passed away after a battle with brain cancer, and supports families facing childhood cancer. Since its inception, the fundraiser has raised over $200,000, exceeding expectations.

This year’s initiative, in partnership with Ormond Beach MainStreet, will include a series of community events, leading up to a final beard-shaving ceremony on December 15. Fletcher, a cancer survivor, started the fundraiser after his own diagnosis in 2019 and will mark five years of remission this year. His dedication and the outpouring of local support have made "Shave for the Brave" a vital part of the community’s charitable efforts.

Delta Cycle Recalls Ceiling Hoists with Straps Due to Injury Hazard

The plastic buckles on the straps being used to hold a kayak, canoe or other large objects with the ceiling hoist can break, posing an injury hazard to consumers.

This recall involves Ceiling Hoists with Straps with model number RS2300. The model number is only listed on the product packaging. The product can lift bicycles, kayaks, ladders, boxes and other large objects off the floor using a pulley system. Note that no recall action is required if the ceiling hoists are used without the use of straps. Units affected by this recall will have serial numbers within one of the 16 ranges listed on the website. See link below.
