The Volusia Sheriff's Office arrested two more juveniles for making school shooting threats against Taylor Middle-High School in Pierson, continuing a trend of publicly identifying minors charged with such offenses. A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were charged after exchanging a Snapchat message threatening violence at the school. Both juveniles were processed and handed over to the Department of Juvenile Justice, with their names and faces shared by the sheriff's office.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood defended the decision to release their identities, hoping it would deter future threats. The controversial practice of identifying minors charged with felony threats, while legal, has sparked debate about its long-term impact on the individuals' futures. Chitwood emphasized the seriousness of school threats, urging parents to intervene more effectively in their children’s behavior, while others raised concerns about the stigma these juveniles may face in the years to come.
