Ormond Beach Hospitality Industry Sees Growth Amid Rising Tourism
Ormond Beach’s hospitality sector is thriving, fueled by a growing interest in both tourism and real estate. Hotel occupancy is strong, with rising daily rates and room revenues, leading to increased investment in the area. The beachside’s affordability makes it attractive for tourists and commercial investors, as reflected in new hotel projects, including a Residence Inn by Marriott and a Spark by Hilton. Off-market hotel sales are also becoming more common, with properties expected to fetch up to $20 million. Tourism, boosted by events at Daytona Beach’s Ocean Center, continues to support the area’s economic growth. The Ormond MainStreet district has seen notable development, contributing to a surge in visitors drawn to the area’s mix of attractions. With demand for real estate rising, local experts expect more hotels to emerge in the coming years, positioning Ormond Beach as a key player in Florida’s hospitality market.
Volusia County Schools Cancels Classes Thursday Due to Tropical Storm Helene
In response to Tropical Storm Helene, Volusia County Schools will cancel all after-school activities on Wednesday, September 25, except for Extended Day Enrichment Programs. All schools and district offices will be closed on Thursday, September 26, as the region braces for heavy rain, winds, and potential disruptions to bus services. Volusia County is now under a state of emergency declared by Governor Ron DeSantis, alongside a local emergency order issued by county officials.
No changes have been announced for Friday’s operations, including after-school programs and athletic events. Schools will not serve as storm shelters, but families are encouraged to check emails, district social media, and the VCS Storm Resource Center webpage for ongoing updates. Post-storm assessments will be conducted to ensure the safety of schools and bus routes, and future communication will provide details on how the district plans to make up the missed day.

Photo; Popstroke
PopStroke, a miniature golf and entertainment center supported by Tiger Woods, has opened its doors in Daytona Beach’s Tomoka Town Center. The Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday, celebrating the opening of the facility, which features two 18-hole golf courses, a restaurant, and an array of family-friendly activities.
PopStroke, founded by Greg Bartoli, is backed by both Tiger Woods and TaylorMade, and it is designed to offer a tech-enhanced experience for players of all ages. The Daytona Beach location is the company’s 15th and seventh in Florida. Mayor Derrick Henry Sr. attended the event with his son, highlighting the value of PopStroke’s family-centered entertainment for both locals and the city’s millions of annual visitors.
The venue opens to the public on Thursday, employing 110 workers and operating seven days a week. Visitors can expect a blend of golf, dining, and fun for all ages.

Amazing Pineapple Juice Cake
It’s a tropical dream come true! Perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients:
1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow or buttercream cake mix (I prefer Betty Crocker or Pillsbury)
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup pineapple juice
4 large eggs
For the glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
3/4 cup pineapple juice
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 10 to 12 cup Bundt pan with flour.
Using an electric mixer, combine cake mix, vegetable oil, pineapple juice, and eggs in a large bowl. Beat for about two minutes until well blended.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until the cake begins to pull away from the sides and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes while you make the glaze.
In a saucepan, mix powdered sugar, pineapple juice, and butter. Cook on medium-low heat until the butter melts, stirring constantly.
Using a skewer or toothpick, poke holes in the cake. Pour the warm glaze over the cake while it is still in the pan. It will look like a lot of glaze, but keep pouring.
Let the cake cool for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until most of the glaze has been absorbed. Then, invert the cake onto a serving plate.
Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cooking Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 45 minutes
