Volusia County Set for Early Voting Amid 2024 Presidential Election

As the 2024 presidential race intensifies, the anticipation surrounding Election Day is palpable, with early voting set to begin in Volusia County. Monday marks the opening of early polling stations. The window to participate in early voting will remain open until November 2, giving residents ample time to cast their ballots before the official Election Day.

In Volusia County, early voting is scheduled to begin starting on October 21 and concludes on November 2. Election offices in the county will open their doors at 8 a.m., closing promptly at 6 p.m. during the early voting period. As the nation’s eyes remain on Florida, often a pivotal state in presidential elections, voter turnout and engagement in these regions will likely play a critical role in shaping the outcome.

In Ormond Beach early voting will take place at Ormond Beach Regional Library
30 S Beach St, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.

17-Year-Old Girl Missing from Flagler County, Authorities Say She’s a Runaway

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is searching for a 17-year-old girl, identified as Ava Tuft, who has been reported missing. Tuft was last seen on the morning of Friday, October 18, driving a black 2008 Audi A4. Authorities later detected the vehicle’s license plate on State Route 16 in St. Johns County, about an hour north of her home, around 7 p.m. that evening.

While the search continues, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office indicated that Tuft is not believed to be in immediate danger and is classified as a runaway. This status has precluded the issuance of a Florida Missing Child Alert or AMBER Alert, both of which require specific criteria to be met.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Tuft's whereabouts to contact the Flagler County Sheriff's Office at 386-313-4911.

1,000 Jobs Coming to Daytona Beach as French Aviation Company Expands

Courtesy Aura-Aero

Aura Aero, a French aviation company, has selected Daytona Beach International Airport as the site for its 500,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, which will produce its 19-seat hybrid electric regional aircraft. The project is expected to create over 1,000 jobs and will begin construction in 2026, with an anticipated opening in late 2028.

Daytona Beach edged out several other U.S. locations, thanks to the community's strong support and ideal site options at the airport, according to Aura Aero’s chief commercial officer. Florida officials, including Governor Ron DeSantis, also played a key role in securing the deal.

Aura Aero CEO Jérémy Caussade noted that the aircraft, designed for small and remote communities, has already attracted over 600 letters of intent. The company, founded in 2018 and based in Toulouse, France, also plans to establish a research center at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
