The Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens will present its Veterans Day Tribute on Monday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This annual event, held in the museum’s parking area, will feature patriotic music by vocalist Jennifer McGill and a welcoming address from Ormond Beach Vice Mayor Harold Briley. The ceremony includes the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Joint Color Guard and Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey, who will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Gulf War veteran and retired orthopedic surgeon Andrew Gygi will deliver the keynote address, honoring veterans' service and contributions. A 27-foot Coast Guard Response Boat will be displayed, with light refreshments provided by the Pilot Club of Daytona Beach. Free parking will be offered nearby.

Unfamiliar Number? FEMA Might Be Calling for Disaster Assistance Verification

AI Generated Image

After Floridians apply for disaster relief, they may receive calls from unfamiliar numbers as FEMA schedules inspections and completes applications. FEMA advises residents to answer these calls to avoid delays, as inspections ensure homes meet safety and functionality standards. Inspectors carry photo IDs and will never request payment for services; any solicitation for fees is likely fraudulent.

Applications can be filed at DisasterAssistance.gov, via the FEMA App, or by calling FEMA, though wait times may be extended due to high demand. If a previous FEMA application was filed for damage from Hurricanes Debby or Helene, individuals with additional damage from Hurricane Milton must submit a new application.

McDonald’s to Resume Quarter Pounder Sales After E. coli Investigation

McDonald’s is set to reintroduce its Quarter Pounder burger at affected restaurants after federal health authorities traced the likely source of a recent E. coli outbreak to slivered onions rather than beef patties. The outbreak, which has sickened 75 people across 13 states and resulted in one death, appears linked to onions sourced from a Taylor Farms facility in Colorado Springs. McDonald’s confirmed it has removed onions from this facility indefinitely and will resume sales of the burger without them. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned of severe E. coli symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea, particularly in vulnerable groups. Taylor Farms has also recalled the suspect onions, and other fast-food chains removed onions from select menus. McDonald’s emphasized that the beef used in the Quarter Pounders tested negative for E. coli.
