🙏 OUR APOLOGY!! 🙏
We recently reported that there would be no Sunday voting at the Ormond Beach Library location. This was incorrect and was due to our misunderstanding of information we received and our failure to confirm with the County election people. We deeply regret the error and any inconvenience it may have caused.

Free Roof Protection Service Still Available for Hurricane Milton-Affected Homes Thru Nov. 5
As a reminder, the Florida Division of Emergency Management has the Blue Roof Program to help residents impacted by Hurricane Milton protect their storm-damaged roofs available through November 5. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, this program provides free, industrial-strength sheeting to cover damaged roofs temporarily until permanent repairs are possible. Eligible residents, including those in Volusia County, can sign up for assistance Still by visiting blueroof.gov, calling 888-ROOF-BLU (888-766-3258), or going to a Right of Entry collection center listed on the program’s website.
Record Early Voting Turnout Reaches 40% in Volusia County
With nearly 40% of registered voters casting early ballots, Volusia County’s early voting turnout has exceeded expectations. County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis confirmed record-breaking numbers, with over 11,000 voters on opening day and another high of 12,000 last Thursday. Lewis described the voting process as smooth and free from issues, a positive note for such a high-turnout election year.
Voters, too, described a streamlined process, with many reporting short wait times and helpful poll workers. Newer citizen and Volusia voter Siri Shepek praised the efficient setup, noting the experience took only 15 minutes. Early voting sites also allow for secure drop-offs of vote-by-mail ballots. Early voting is open daily, Monday through Saturday, until Nov. 2.

Daytona Man Arrested for Threatening Bombing at Halifax Medical Center
Photo: Volusia County Jail
A Daytona Beach man, Richard Wilson, 69, was arrested recently for allegedly threatening to bomb Halifax Medical Center after expressing frustration with staff during his hospital admission. Daytona Beach Police reported that Wilson’s threats escalated when he reportedly warned an employee to avoid work for safety reasons and used racial slurs, claiming he had a “team” prepared to aid in the attack. The alleged statements prompted a substantial police response, delaying other calls in the area. Officers subdued Wilson and administered a sedative before taking him into custody. As of last Thursday he remains in jail with a $50,000 bond, facing charges of making a false report of a bombing.
Goldendoodles - What You Need to Know About This Popular Poodle Mix
Photo: Csnva
Goldendoodles, a hybrid of Golden Retrievers and Poodles, are popular for their friendly, hypoallergenic nature and adaptability to family life. Originating in the United States, these dogs vary in size, lifespan, and coat types, typically living 10 to 15 years with low-shedding, allergy-friendly fur. Goldendoodles are active and intelligent, enjoying walks, play, and mental stimulation, but their curly or wavy coats demand regular grooming and maintenance. Affectionate and loyal, they are easy to train with positive reinforcement, making them a favorite among families and dog novices alike. Aspiring owners are advised to adopt from shelters or reputable breeders to avoid supporting unethical breeding practices. Given their high energy and grooming needs, they require a dedicated commitment from their families to remain healthy and happy.
