Pathways Elementary Celebrates Veterans with Musical Tribute
Pathways Elementary School in Ormond Beach held its annual Veterans Day celebration on November 8, where students, dressed in patriotic colors, performed songs dedicated to honoring America’s veterans. Hosted on the school’s basketball court, the event featured students from all grades and was attended by local veterans, active-duty military members, and their families. Organized by music teacher Jessica Palmer, the ceremony has become a cherished tradition that reflects the school’s focus on patriotism and community spirit. According to sources, the celebration underscores the significance of Veterans Day, observed annually on November 11, as a time to acknowledge bravery and appreciate freedom. Principal Kevin Berry highlighted the students’ sense of respect and leadership, describing veterans as exemplary patriots whom the students strive to honor.

The Volusia County Fair returned on Thursday with 11 days of family-friendly attractions and food. The midway buzzed with thrill rides like the Cyclops and carnival games offering big prizes. A highlight for many, fair food ranged from funnel cakes to deep-fried candy bars and even a $16 “Doughnut Burger,” with numerous foods on sticks, including bacon and pizza. Ormond Beach families like the Pinellos enjoyed treats and live music, while children delighted in the livestock pavilion, which hosted animal exhibits featuring chickens, pigs, and more. Dr. Dog Concessions, a long-time fair food vendor, noted the fair’s strong local community appeal, which continues to attract loyal patrons. Open through November 17, the Volusia County Fair offers a vibrant blend of rides, food, games, and animal shows at the fairgrounds in DeLand.
Fair Dates: November 7, thru November 17
