OMAM Hosts Community Tribute to Veterans with Ceremony and Live Music

Photo: OMAM Website

The Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens (OMAM) will host it’s annual Veteran’s Day Tribute, bringing the Ormond Beach community together under a big tent in the museum’s parking lot to honor those who have defended our freedom. Since its founding in 1946, OMAM has been dedicated as a living tribute to World War I and World War II veterans, and this annual gathering continues that legacy, commemorating all who have served with reverence and gratitude.

The tribute will commence at 11 a.m., marking the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, a time of remembrance and respect for veterans everywhere. Attendees will hear from several speakers, including keynote speaker and Army and Navy veteran Andrew Gygi and special guest Suzanne Oliver, a veteran of naval aviation. Ormond Beach Deputy Mayor Harold Briley will welcome the community, and Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

The ceremony will also feature live music by Jennifer McGill of Halifax Repertory Theatre and a presentation of colors by the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Joint Color Guard, with a SPC-SW II Coast Guard Response Boat on display to further honor the dedication and service of our military personnel.

The tribute is a free event, open to all who wish to pay their respects. Ample parking is available in the grass lot between The Casements and St. James Episcopal Church. Join us at OMAM as we honor the sacrifice and bravery of our nation’s veterans, standing together in a community of remembrance and respect.

The Junior League of Daytona Beach celebrated its 90-year milestone with a gala event on October 26 at the CiCi & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art. Founded in 1934, initially known as the Junior Service League of Daytona, the organization has focused on advancing the needs of women and children within the community. The evening honored the League’s historical impact, recognizing projects like the establishment of Easterseals, the MOAS Planetarium, the Discovery Center, and a variety of community-focused initiatives such as Project WARM and Camp BeginAgain. City Commissioner Quanita May presented a proclamation from Mayor Derrick Henry, underscoring the League’s role in Daytona Beach’s civic landscape. Current president Maria Indelicato reflected on the anniversary as a celebration of the League’s achievements and a renewed commitment to its future.
