Soda Waves Opens Soon in Ormond Beach, Offering Creative Take on Classic Sodas

Image: Soda Waves Website

Soda Waves, Ormond Beach's first gourmet soda shop, is gearing up for a November opening on West Granada Boulevard. This family-owned business, led by John Kerlin and his daughter Jamie, will serve signature “dirty sodas” that blend classic soda bases with flavored syrups and creams, offering creations like the Tiki Island and Swaying Palm. The shop also allows patrons to craft their own custom drinks. After relocating to Ormond Beach three years ago, the Kerlins were inspired to bring the unique concept to their new community. Jamie, a restaurant industry veteran, created the menu with innovative soda recipes that bring a fresh twist on classic soda-jerk traditions. The community’s enthusiasm has already been evident, with residents eagerly awaiting Soda Waves’ arrival. Equipped with curbside service and a mobile app, Soda Waves is set to become a social hub for Ormond Beach.

Hope for Clemency: Proud Boys Leader Looks to Trump for Pardon After Capitol Riot Sentence

Photo: U.S. Departmeent of Justice

Joe Biggs, a Proud Boys leader from Ormond Beach is preparing a bid for a presidential pardon from Donald J. Trump following his 17-year prison sentence for seditious conspiracy and other charges linked to the January 6 Capitol attack. Biggs, a decorated veteran, hopes Trump’s potential return to office could mean clemency for him and others who view their actions as loyalty-driven. His attorney, Norman Pattis, is filing the request with Trump’s transition team and the Department of Justice, though he acknowledges Trump’s advisers are split on whether to grant blanket pardons for January 6 defendants or proceed case-by-case. Legal scholars caution that presidential pardons are meant to show mercy, not to reward political allies. With no clear stance from Trump, Biggs remains optimistic, having cited historical examples where the president’s power has extended amnesty to politically motivated offenses.

Got Some? Bitcoin Tops $88,000 as Trump Win Fuels Anticipation of Regulatory Ease

AI Image

Bitcoin’s price surged to $88,000, a record high, as cryptocurrency markets rallied following Donald Trump’s presidential victory. Investors anticipate a crypto-friendly approach from Trump, who previously opposed crypto but has now embraced it, even pledging to make the U.S. a leader in the sector. Trump’s potential changes, such as removing SEC Chair Gary Gensler, could open doors to lighter regulation and encourage further investment, especially in popular spot bitcoin ETFs, which have spurred much of this year’s gains.

Despite the optimism, analysts stress caution due to crypto’s history of volatility, recalling recent crashes and warning that prices could shift sharply again. Environmental impacts also linger, as studies link bitcoin mining emissions to those of large-scale power plants, with most of its energy coming from coal and gas. Amid Trump’s push for industry growth, concerns over crypto’s carbon footprint and energy consumption remain a point of tension.

Thinking About A Fish tank? Here’s a Step By Step Setup Guide

Canva

A self-sustaining fish tank offers an appealing low-maintenance alternative to traditional aquariums by creating a balanced ecosystem that requires minimal cleaning and fewer chemicals. Starting with a 30 to 200-gallon tank provides a stable environment to support plants, fish, and beneficial bacteria. A nutrient-rich substrate promotes healthy plant growth, and adding species like Amazon Frogbit and Java Fern helps naturally purify the water by absorbing waste products. These plants also produce oxygen, benefiting both fish and overall water quality.

After setting up the substrate and plants, introducing beneficial bacteria kickstarts the natural filtration process, breaking down fish waste. Clean-up organisms, such as snails or shrimp, help control algae and leftover food, while a full-spectrum LED light on a timer keeps plants thriving. When adding fish, select species that do well in balanced ecosystems, like Betta and Tetras, and introduce them gradually to prevent overwhelming the system.

Regular maintenance is simple, involving only occasional water top-offs and minor algae control. This approach offers a natural and beautiful habitat that requires little upkeep, providing an ideal setup for aquarium enthusiasts who want the benefits of aquatic life without the frequent cleaning of traditional tanks.
