Operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, the flights will use Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. This marks the fourth destination offered by Avelo from Daytona Beach, alongside routes to Hartford, Wilmington, and New Haven.

Travelers can book special one-way fares starting at $44 through December 10 for flights scheduled from April 3 to April 13, 2025, on Avelo’s website.

Halifax Urban Ministries, a nonprofit addressing food and housing insecurity in Volusia and Flagler counties, has received a $7,500 grant from Spectrum. The donation, part of Spectrum’s Employee Community Grant Program, was presented Wednesday in Daytona Beach. The program, which enables employees to nominate nonprofits where they volunteer, has provided over $1.5 million to organizations nationwide.

Halifax Urban Ministries plans to use the grant to supply 300 grocery bags to families facing food insecurity. The nonprofit has seen an increase in need, particularly among seniors on fixed incomes, as the cost of living continues to rise. Known for its efficiency, the organization directs 94% of its funding to community programs and services.

The grant presentation highlighted Spectrum employees’ dedication to their communities, with one employee expressing pride in supporting local efforts to address critical challenges.

Daytona Beach Considers $185 Million Sports Complex to Boost Tourism

Daytona Beach may soon welcome a $185 million sports complex and stadium, a project proposed by a Clearwater-based developer. Planned for 600 city-owned acres west of Interstate 95, the facility would feature a 10,000-seat stadium, multi-use sports fields, courts, baseball diamonds, an ice rink, and more. It aims to attract over 100 annual sports tournaments and events, tapping into the $52 billion sports tourism industry.

Economic forecasts predict a $54 million local impact in the complex's first year, climbing to $96.5 million by year five, with annual revenue projected to rise from $4.6 million to $7.5 million. The project could also generate $1-2 million annually in new sales and hotel taxes. Despite the promising outlook, the plan’s realization depends on securing investors and assessing feasibility. City officials view the project as an opportunity to enhance Daytona Beach’s brand and economic diversity.
