State Program Aims to Help Homeowners Elevate and Protect Properties

Florida’s Division of Emergency Management has launched Elevate Florida, a new statewide program aimed at helping homeowners mitigate flood risks and recover from disasters like Hurricane Milton. The initiative provides support for elevating homes, reconstructing damaged properties, or purchasing flood-prone residences.

Deltona resident William Strohl, whose home has flooded twice in the last three years, welcomed the program as a potential solution to recurring flood issues. Similar mitigation efforts, such as FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, have been offered in the past, but some residents have faced delays in accessing them.

To prepare for the program, state officials recommend documenting flood damage and repair costs. Additional details on applications and deadlines are forthcoming. Residents seeking more information can contact [email protected].
