Volusia County Fire Official Demoted Amid Misconduct Investigation

Volusia County Professional Firefighters Association

A Volusia County Fire Rescue division chief was demoted after an internal investigation uncovered inappropriate conduct involving the wife of a lieutenant under his supervision. The nearly 15-month relationship, which both parties described as non-romantic, sparked concerns after evidence surfaced. The investigation also revealed financial transactions linked to efforts to conceal the meetings. County officials stated that while public safety was not at risk, the incident violated ethical standards, resulting in disciplinary action, including a demotion and salary reduction.
