The funding, part of the company's five-year $30 million philanthropic Spectrum Community Center Assist initiative, will be directed towards upgrading the Daytona Beach career center. This center provides essential job training resources to the local community. Since 2022, Spectrum has invested over $192,000 in CareerSource through the program, supporting initiatives that enhance job readiness and career development. Recent renovations at the Daytona Beach site, completed with the help of more than 30 volunteers, included interior painting, assembling new seating, and the installation of a projector. Daytona Beach-Linked Pilots Among Victims of Deadly Potomac Collision

A midair collision over the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport on Wednesday night claimed the lives of two pilots with local connections. Captain Jonathan Campos and First Officer Samuel Lilley were aboard American Eagle Flight 5342 when it collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. All seven individuals aboard both aircraft perished.

The American Eagle flight was traveling from Wichita, Kansas, to Washington with 64 people aboard when the crash occurred. Sources confirmed that Lilley, a 28-year-old former instructor at Daytona Beach’s ATP Flight School, was engaged to be married and had been living in the Charlotte area. Captain Campos was reportedly a resident of Ormond Beach.

The collision has left the aviation community and families mourning the loss of both pilots. Authorities, including the National Transportation Safety Board, are investigating the cause of the crash, which marks a devastating event for both civilian and military aviation sectors.

Jonathan Campos, an Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University graduate and skilled pilot, was among the victims of a fatal midair collision involving American Eagle Flight 5342 and a military Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport. The crash claimed the lives of 64 passengers and crew members on the commercial flight, as well as three military personnel.

Campos, remembered by friends as a generous and dependable individual, had made Ormond Beach his home after completing his degree in aeronautical science. A former flight instructor in New Smyrna Beach, Campos was well-respected in aviation circles for his professionalism and leadership.
