The Ormond Memorial Art Museum held its annual “Kaleidoscope” dinner on January 15, honoring four community leaders for their contributions to the arts and local engagement. The sold-out event highlighted the museum’s accomplishments over the past fiscal year, including more than 43,000 visitors and a variety of programs for residents of all ages.
Linda King, an instructor since 1998, received the OMAM Champion Award for her dedication to family art events. Susan Anderson was recognized with the Mary Jane McSwain Garden Volunteer Award for her leadership in horticultural initiatives and youth programs. Sherry and Roy Gailey were presented with the Malcolm Fraser Philanthropic Award for their longstanding community support and efforts in the museum’s $4 million renovation project. The museum's leadership noted the dinner as a reflection of Ormond Beach's enduring commitment to the arts.

Ormond Beach Teen Faces Felony for Second Threat on School Laptop
A 13-year-old Riverview Learning Center student in Ormond Beach was arrested Thursday after being accused of threatening to carry out a school shooting, marking the second such incident involving the same student.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office reported that the student previously faced charges in September for making an online threat using a PlayStation console. The latest incident occurred on a school-issued laptop and was detected by Gaggle, a monitoring software used by the Volusia County School District to flag concerning content on student devices.
The teen was charged with making a written threat to commit a mass shooting, which is classified as a felony. Authorities underscored the gravity of all threats related to school violence, regardless of the medium used. Officials continue to collaborate with the school district to maintain student and faculty safety.
Starlink Mission Scheduled for Saturday Liftoff with Backup Windows Sunday

SpaceX is gearing up for the launch of its Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral on Saturday, carrying 21 Starlink satellites designed to expand global internet coverage. Thirteen of the satellites will feature Direct-to-Cell capabilities.
Liftoff from Space Launch Complex 40 is scheduled for 1:23 p.m., with backup windows extending until 5:08 p.m. Sunday offers additional launch opportunities beginning at 2:55 p.m. if needed.
The mission will be the 17th flight for the Falcon 9's first-stage booster, which has previously supported high-profile missions such as Crew-6 and multiple Starlink launches. Following stage separation, the booster is expected to land on the droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas in the Atlantic Ocean.
Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation, delivers high-speed, low-latency internet for various online activities, from streaming to gaming and video conferencing.
