SBA Help, Bike Injuries and Robots

Help is Here for Storm-Affected Businesses
If Hurricane Milton left your business in a tough spot, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has your back. A Business Recovery Center has officially opened in Daytona Beach at the UCF Business Incubator. Business owners and residents can stop by Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for assistance with disaster loan applications, questions about recovery resources, and general guidance on getting back on track. The SBA offers various loans, including Business Physical Disaster Loans, Economic Injury Disaster Loans, and Home Disaster Loans, to help repair damage and keep operations running smoothly. The clock is ticking, though—the deadline for Physical Disaster Loans is April 27, and for Economic Injury Disaster Loans, it’s July 11. Need help? Head over to the center or check out all the details online at SBA.gov.

Bike Week: Fewer Accidents, but Still a Wild Ride
Bike Week 2025 came and went, and Halifax Health is reporting some mixed news. The good? Overall trauma-related patient admissions dropped to 114 from last year’s 180. The not-so-good? Bike Week-related patient admissions actually rose slightly, from 55 to 57. There were also two reported deaths, down from four last year. The hospital also noted a decrease in helmet usage—only 41 riders were wearing them compared to 61 last year. Whether you’re a biker or just a spectator, safety should always be a priority—so let’s gear up responsibly for next year’s rally.

Amazon’s New Robotic Warehouse: Ready to Roll!
Daytona Beach is about to get a high-tech boost—Amazon’s massive five-story robotic fulfillment center has officially received its certificate of occupancy. Located just south of Daytona International Speedway, this 2.8-million-square-foot facility is expected to bring at least 1,000 new jobs to the area by 2028. The e-commerce giant is eyeing a summer opening, just in time for the holiday shopping rush. With positions like “mechatronics and robotics technician” and “senior maintenance operations manager” already listed, job seekers should keep an eye out for hiring announcements in the coming months. The investment shows Amazon’s commitment to Daytona, and we can’t wait to see this tech-powered hub in action.
