Shaping Volusia’s Future-Milton Recovery Action Plan
Volusia County is moving forward with its $133.5 million Hurricane Milton Recovery Action Plan, and now is the time for residents to weigh in. A public hearing is set for March 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Thomas C. Kelly Administration Center in DeLand, where officials will discuss how federal disaster recovery funds will be used to rebuild infrastructure, restore housing, and strengthen the economy. If you can't make it in person, you can catch the live stream via Microsoft Teams, and the plan is available for review online and at local libraries. Public comments are welcome through April 14.

Broadway Comes to Flagler
A group of 26 young performers got the experience of a lifetime when they shared the stage with Broadway star Mandy Gonzalez at the Fitzgerald Performing Arts Center. The talented students, hailing from Flagler, Volusia, St. Johns, and Orange counties, sang backup for the celebrated performer, known for her roles in Hamilton, Wicked, and In the Heights. After rehearsals, Gonzalez met with the choir, signed copies of her novel Fearless, and shared words of encouragement. It was a night of music, inspiration, and a little Broadway magic right in our backyard.

Bat Season is Here—Handle With Care
If you have some uninvited guests flapping around your attic, now is the time to evict them. Florida law prohibits removing bats from April 16 to August 14, so homeowners have just a few weeks left to address any bat infestations. While these tiny creatures play a vital role in pest control, they can also be noisy and leave behind an unpleasant mess. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission recommends using exclusion devices to guide bats out of structures before sealing any entry points. Need help? Calling a professional might be your best bet.
