🐾 Reminder!! Ormond Beach's Dog-Friendly Shores Up for Vote

Dog lovers in Ormond Beach may soon have a reason to wag their tails. The Volusia County Council is set to vote on Tuesday regarding the permanence of the dog-friendly beach pilot program initiated in November 2023. This 0.6-mile stretch between Milsap Road and Rockefeller Drive has welcomed nearly 13,000 canine visitors without any reported incidents of aggression. While the initiative has garnered significant support, it hasn't been without controversy, sparking petitions both for and against its continuation. A favorable vote would place Ormond Beach alongside other esteemed dog-friendly coastal spots in Florida, much to the delight of local pet owners.

🏛 Congressional Showdown: Florida's 6th District Heats Up

As the special election for Florida's 6th Congressional District approaches, the political atmosphere is charged. With early voting concluded, turnout stands at a modest 17.5%, leaving candidates Randy Fine (Republican) and Josh Weil (Democrat) with a vast pool of voters to engage before polls close on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Weil, an Orlando public school teacher, has amassed over $10 million in campaign funds, tapping into progressive enthusiasm nationwide. Conversely, Fine, a state senator from Melbourne Beach, has secured endorsements from prominent figures, including President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk. Despite Republicans casting 44.6% of early ballots compared to Democrats' 40.6%, the race remains tight, serving as a litmus test for the current administration's influence and the potency of grassroots activism.

Ormond Beach Author Pens AI Beginners Guide

Debra Brenneman, an Ormond Beach-based author, brings clarity and warmth to a complex topic in her new book AI for Beginners. Inspired by a casual conversation with her son, Brenneman realized just how deeply artificial intelligence has become embedded in our daily lives—from GPS and Alexa to tools like ChatGPT. Recognizing that many people still feel intimidated by the concept, she set out to write a guide that breaks AI down in a way that's accessible, relatable, and free of technical jargon. With AI for Beginners, Brenneman offers a friendly, approachable introduction to the world of artificial intelligence, helping everyday readers understand what AI is, how it works, and why it matters now more than ever. The book goes on sale on Amazon on April 1.
