🎆 Cassen Park Reopens Just in Time for Dazzling Independence Day Celebration
Late Thursday afternoon, construction crews quietly cleared the last of their equipment and removed the familiar orange barrels from Cassen Park, marking the official completion of the long-anticipated renovations. The timing couldn’t have been better—just ahead of the city’s July 4th festivities.
By 6 p.m. Friday, families and spectators began trickling into the newly refreshed park, staking out spots for what promised to be a memorable night under the stars. As dusk settled in, the sky over the Halifax River transformed into a canvas of color.
Before the main event even began, a series of impressive private fireworks displays lit up the beachside waterway. With each launch, it seemed neighbors were trying to outdo one another—some shows rivaled professional-grade productions in both scale and precision.
At precisely 8:55 p.m., all eyes turned to the river as the city-sponsored fireworks show burst to life from a barge stationed offshore. For the next 20 minutes, brilliant streaks of light and thunderous booms captivated the crowd. The grand finale—an electrifying series of rapid-fire explosions—drew thunderous applause and cheers from the packed park. The timing was perfect for just as the crowds departed some light rain showers crossed the area.
It was a fitting celebration, not only of the nation’s independence, but also of a beloved community space restored just in time to bring people together.

🚨Personal Trainer’s Secret Life Exposed in Disturbing Arrest
A personal trainer at Gold’s Gym in Daytona Beach is behind bars after authorities uncovered what they say was a long-running and deeply disturbing hidden-camera operation. David Van Moorsel, 28, is now facing 110 charges, including video voyeurism, unlawful use of communication devices, and possession of child pornography.
The investigation began June 16, when a former partner tipped off the Volusia Sheriff’s Office about Van Moorsel’s alleged secret recordings of a female roommate. Investigators say hidden cameras were discovered in both a bathroom and a bedroom bookshelf. Van Moorsel reportedly not only recorded the woman without her consent, but also shared explicit images with others online.
The content on his devices didn’t stop there. Detectives say they also found voyeuristic videos of women exercising at Gold’s Gym. While recorded in a public setting, those clips—though legally obtained—raised serious ethical concerns. Even more troubling, deputies report that child pornography was also found on his phone. Records reveal Van Moorsel previously had a conviction in Montana for inappropriate contact with minors.
He was arrested Tuesday and is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond.
