🏖️ Progress on A1A: Seawalls, Sidewalks, and Paid Parking
The Florida Department of Transportation is giving Ormond Beach’s stretch of A1A a serious facelift—and it’s not just cosmetic. A major multi-phase project to install a buried seawall is underway, aiming to stabilize the shoreline and improve safety after repeated storm damage. This seawall, part of the $117 million S.R. A1A Resiliency Plan, is designed to be both durable and discreet, buried beneath sand to maintain the beachy aesthetic.
Alongside this, expect upgraded sidewalks, midblock crossings with flashing beacons, and better drainage from Granada Boulevard to Laurie Drive. FDOT plans to keep construction humming along until late 2025, with some detours in place until October.
Meanwhile, beachgoers at Andy Romano Beachfront Park should prepare for a change in parking policy: non-residents will now pay $20 daily, while Volusia County residents can park for free (with plate registration). The move echoes county policy, but locals hope the new system avoids past ticketing snags.

🏡 Adams, Cameron & Co. Spotlight Market Trends and Staff Promotions
In the ever-evolving world of real estate, Adams, Cameron & Co., Realtors took a moment mid-year to reflect—and recharge. At their July update, President John Adams and a panel of top agents outlined local market trends while spotlighting internal promotions that signal continued growth.
Kristin Petersen steps into the role of General Manager, while Brett Thompson becomes the new Lead and Referral Coordinator. In another big reveal, the company launched its Agent Advisor team—Chrissy Royce, Kaley Maycomber, and Renee Rau—tasked with guiding agents through market challenges and strategies.
Also receiving a round of applause were summer interns Bobby Adams and Anderson Welch, who helped supercharge the company’s social media game. The meeting showcased not only market momentum but also a strong commitment to internal mentorship and innovation.

⛽ Community vs. Circle K: Appeal Denied, But the Fight Isn’t Over
A passionate neighborhood appeal to stop a new Circle K gas station at 699 Nova Road was denied by the Ormond Beach City Commission in a 4-1 vote, despite heartfelt arguments from resident Amber Bobak. Bobak, who lives just 1,000 feet from the proposed site, voiced concerns over neighborhood compatibility, lighting laws, and the broader environmental impact of the project.
City Attorney Randy Hayes clarified that the commission was acting in a quasi-judicial role and could only evaluate the legal record. Though sympathetic, commissioners said the developer had met all requirements under current codes.
S.B. 180, a new state law limiting local government control over development regulations, also loomed large in the discussion. Even with the commission’s hands tied, Bobak’s advocacy left a strong impression, with Deputy Mayor Lori Tolland calling her stance “one of the bravest things I have ever seen any resident do.”
Bobak isn’t giving up—she’s now challenging the stormwater permit in a formal state hearing this September.
