🛵 Early Evening Tragedy in Flagler County Claims Motorcyclist’s Life
A 68‑year‑old Flagler Beach man lost his life Saturday evening, July 5, in a tragic motorcycle accident on John Anderson Highway. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the rider was traveling southbound around 6 p.m. when he failed to navigate a left‑hand curve. His motorcycle veered onto the grass shoulder and overturned. Despite immediate medical attention, the man—who was not wearing a helmet—sustained life‑threatening injuries and passed away at AdventHealth Palm Coast Hospital.
This heartbreaking event marks the second fatality on Flagler County roads within a two‑hour span, highlighting ongoing concerns about traffic safety in the region. Authorities continue to encourage protective gear use and cautious driving, especially on curvy road segments like those along John Anderson Highway.

🗡️ Daytona Police and Volusia Deputies Fatally Shoot Knife‑Wielding Suspect
In a dramatic turn of events late Saturday, July 5, Volusia County deputies and Daytona Beach police shot and killed a suspect who allegedly stabbed multiple individuals and lunged at officers with a knife. Deputies were initially dispatched to a Derbyshire Road residence around 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. Two male victims—aged 16 and 39—were discovered with multiple stab wounds and rushed to the hospital in stable condition.
Law enforcement officials attempted to communicate with the suspect inside the home and learned there might be additional victims. Upon entering, the suspect reportedly charged toward officers with a raised knife, prompting deputies and Daytona Beach police to open fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or deputies sustained injuries.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has assumed control of the investigation. Volusia Sheriff's deputies and the involved Daytona Beach officers have been placed on administrative leave, pending a briefing scheduled by Sheriff Mike Chitwood and Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young on July 7. Police are also searching for any further victims connected to the incident.
